Radoslaw Szarek

Radoslaw Szarek (* 1983 / Poland) received his first piano lessons at the age of six. He discovered his passion for drums seven years later.


In 2002 he graduated with distinction from the Musisches Gymnasium in Bydgoszcz with Miroslaw Zyta and Maciej Korpal. In the same year he continued his percussion studies at the Musikhochschule in Nuremberg with Professor Hermann Schwander. Two years later followed a second degree in jazz drum set with Hans-Günther Brodmann. At the same time he received lessons from the renowned American vibraphonist Bill Molenhof.

He has won several national and international competitions, including the Krzysztof Penderecki Competition in Krakow, Music Competition in Verona, Rotary Jazz Competition, Jazz on the Oder and Marimba Festiva Competition.


Radoslaw Szarek has worked with many different composers and has given several world premieres. Recordings for Bayerischer Rundfunk, Naxos, Blue Records and Radio PiK are part of his artistic work.

In 2013 he was appointed professor for drums at the University of Music in Nuremberg.
Radoslaw Szarek is also the culture award winner of the Middle Franconia district.

He has been part of the Yamaha Artists family since 2011.
