Frank New

(Born 1967) discovered his enthusiasm for playing drums at the age of 6. At the age of 17 he began his studies with Franz Lang in Saarbrücken and later continued his percussion studies in Trossingen to the artistic maturity and master class.
During his studies he played in numerous orchestras such as the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the EG-Orchester and the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival and got to know conductors such as Bernstein, Abbado, Boulez and others. He also won the university competition as a soloist in Trossingen.
After completing his studies, Frank Neu made a conscious decision to work as a teacher and lecturer after several months of temporary work at the Braunschweig State Opera. Since then, many of his students have been award winners at Jugend Musiziert and his compositions are often played in such competitions. He also teaches at the Bundesakademie Trossingen as a percussion lecturer in the course leading wind orchestras. Since 2005 he has been a group leader and lecturer for the precollege class at the Villingen-Schwenningen Music Academy. His latest project is the INTakt workshop series for students and lecturers with well-known international musicians.
In 2012 he and his wife Juliane Neu received the Schwarzwald-Baar Culture Prize for staging the percussion concert "Trommissimo" on the Theater am Ring theater stage.
